2015-2019 F-150 & Raptor Autostop Eliminator Install and Honest Review
Переглядів 6 тис.5 років тому
Been a minute but I'm back! TRL Automotive reached out to me to test their Autostop Eliminator which gives you full control of the autostop/start feature on your 2015-2019 F150 and F150 Raptor. It works and it's pretty simple to install. No more turning autostop/start off everytime you get in your truck! Skip to about 1:45 to get right to the install. Skip to about 18:30 for a Christmas message...
Raptor Assault Course at the Ford Performance Racing School Part 1
Переглядів 6 тис.6 років тому
A couple of weeks ago I went to the Ford Performance Racing School in Tooele, Utah to learn more about my 2018 Raptor. We spent a whole day up in the mountains learning what our trucks are capable of and had a blast doing it! Here's part one of a series of videos I'll be posting showing what our day was like. I was also fortunate to have met up with Will Motivation and Matt from ObsessedGarage....

I didn’t realize you can run regular unleaded in the 2018 Raptor if you want to and the ECU automatically compensates for this? Where did you get this information, this is the first time I’ve heard that stated by anyone?
Believe you can find it mentioned in the owners manual. It mentions it’s better to run higher octane in hot weather or when towing
Can/will a dealer do this?
probably, but it wont be free.
Thank you for this video - I will try this out as I have the software and spreadsheet. I mostly wanted to get rid of the double honk if you exit vehicle with keys in your pocket. It's a blood pressure relief now! Also did the bambi light thing. Love the bonus video of the Honda lmao. Cheers
glad it helped. actually thinking about getting back into doing videos for w/e people need help with on these trucks. that honda lives rent free in my head i promise lol
How bout just push the button b4 you get out wtf!
There is some cool setting to mess with the folding mirrors alone is worth it if anything else
Thinking of buying this year Raptor...how has it been, would u do it again?
oddly i did do it again. sold the truck in these videos, bought an edge, traded the edge back in for another raptor. no complaints. new ones have a slight facelift and some updated features but mostly the same truck.
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck ...not sure why the Edge...I have a Ford Flex Titanium EcoBoost..monster sleeper, but wife wants something that sits higher (she's 4'11)...thank u you have made our decision way easier.
@leaellacoleshusband7566 edge was a covid "I don't drive anymore snd this thing cost too much to sit in the driveway" purchase. Also needed something easier for my dog to get in and out of. He's gone now sadly and I'm driving a little more do here we are again lol. Flex is on my list for when I inevitably end up getting another/multiple great Danes. Love those things. Enjoy the truck :)
Hey man, just stumbled on your videos. I was debating between a raptor and a Jeep SRT but you say you switched from Jeep srt to raptor. So I am curious about the pros and cons? I have a grand Cherokee high altitude currently.
Hey man. So the only real pro the jeep had was speed and performance. That engine is one of my favorites I've ever owned. It's honestly apples and oranges, but the raptor is just such a nice truck. It's way more comfortable, feels safer, better passenger space. I had SO many issues with my jeeps interior/body panels/electronics. It was just poorly built. Mind you this was a 2012 and a first gen body style. I have had 0 issues with the raptor and im on my 2nd 2018 (sold the truck when covid hit and got another earlier this year). I say all this and I would totally buy another srt jeep as a mess around car, used. They're super fun, just remember it's a Chrysler. So... Really depends on what you need. If you need a truck the raptor is amazing. If you want a fast suv the jeeps gonna be a lot of fun. Both have their own issues but I've had a much better exp with the truck. Hit me up if you have any other question.
Hey man! I disabled the fake exhaust sound in my 2018 Rap SCREW but ever since I've been hearing these random beeps. Whether listening to music from my phone or XM Sirius or an audio book or whatever. I'm considering enabling the fake exhaust sound again as I didn't start hearing the beeps until after this was disabled. Have you heard these random beeps?
That is WEIRD. I'll do some digging and hit up a buddy of mine. I'd say enable and see if it goes away? If it did then you've at least narrowed it down.
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck Yeah, definitely my intent. I'll re-enable it and wait to hear back from you before disabling it again. Much appreciated!
Subscribed off of the love for animals, I will make it a point to contribute. Your videos are also very informative to watch, for the last two weeks this is all I do, smoke and watch 2018 raptor videos, hopefully in a few days, Ill be sitting in one.
hey bud thx. I actually sold that raptor a couple of years ago but actually picked up another 2018 3 weeks ago to get back into a truck. hopefully i'll get some new vids coming. if you have any questions let me know, i try to respond when i can. grats in advance on ur truck :D
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck Awesome I will make sure to hit the alerts on your page so I can check the videos. I should be in mine tommorow or Thursday hopefully!
I really need to get mine disabled. I don’t like the exhaust note from the raptor. Sounds too hollow.
That looks awesome!! If you don’t mind me asking how much did that cost you? I’ve got an 2018 I really want to do that to
I THINK at the time it was around $2500. Held up pretty well. Truck has a lot of weird angles that will peel or bubble if it's not done 100% correctly. I'm probably going to pick up another 18 in a few years when I decide I want a truck again. amazing vehicle. HAPPY NEW YEARS!
Did you change both ACM and DSP?
I just purchased a used raptor that previous owner must have enabled auto folding mirrors via forscan. I don't really like the auto folding mirror can I disable the function by simply clicking restore?
if you have a backup of the original settings yes. if not you'll have to go here www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt. enter your vin and itll generate a as-built list of fetaures. then you'll have to go down the list and find the module address for folding mirrors. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uDSQ1Z5a2Wt8-kjrSiVSlDFGFHnfeuhb3RTMVz95730/edit#gid=815852466 ^use this spread sheet to find the module that was changed. then enter in the default values from the motorcraftservice.com link (think its 4 rows you'll have to change) hope that helps!!
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck thanks for the info I really appreciate it. One last question is that something a Ford dealer can do if I can’t figure it out? Thanks again!!!
@@h2p766 i dont know if they'll reset 1 specific module but they can set the whole truck back to default for sure. may charge, may not. probably depends on your relationship with the dealership.
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck Great thanks again!!!
I’m 40yrs old. All my life, driven in just 2 vehicles, 99 Explorer & 02 F150 Flareside Supercab. Flareside was my absolute all time favorite. I love the body style & the simplicity of the controls in the cab. I dont need all these BELLS & WHISTLES. Just give me, engine, suspension, exhaust & a badass body style. Thats it! NO radio, gps, heated seats, powered mirror, seats, whatever. These are all unnecessary price gouges, they should be optional!
then this isnt the truck for you. granted, neither is anything built in the last 10 years based on what you just said.
Amazing truck but you need to zoom out
Will this work with power folding/telescoping towing mirrors?
How did you do the top piece that isn't connected to the actual skid plate but the bumper?
That part I just taped off and tried to make as natural of a line as I could. From 3-5ft away you couldnt really tell. up close you can see the tape line though. It was my best option at the time.
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck Nice. Yeah i’m taking some 2020 wheels in to get powder-coated to match the flares and trim for my 2018 and figured I would do the plate while i’m at it. I can see the actual plate is easy to remove but then there’s that piece on the bumper to mimic the skid plate connecting. Can that part be removed too or is it easier to just leave installed and mask everything off and paint?
@@sponsurd I see what you're saying. Yeah that part is connected to the bumper and cant be removed. Gonna have to tape it and send it.
Does this only work when you use the key fob to lock/unlock or does it work with the button to lock on door handle and grasping handle to unlock?
Honestly dont remember. I would imagine it works either way.
Does this void your warranty?
Nah. Worst case scenario you mess up a setting in forscan and the dealership charges you whatever they charge you to reset your settings. (which is why you back up your profile before you touch anything)
Can it be disconnected without Ford scan on my Ford raptor it’s only coming front drivers door speaker and rear passenger , very annoying
Its been a while since I checked but I dont think it can be done without for scan. I'm pretty sure theres no internal option to turn on or off. I'll look around though.
My 2020 does nothing more than vibrate steering wheel and it's not even really a vibrate. It's more like you ran over a soda can feeling in the steering wheel and you just continue on your way out of the lane.
Man, I just ordered mine out of state. Magnetic Grey 2018 // you have my mouth watering by the door!! couple more days!!!
Do you have the P/N for that rocket launcher in the Ford parts online? Asking for a friend...😆! Loved the video!
How about S type borla?
Did you use AS BUILT FORMAT or the regular format?
ua-cam.com/video/YvpHfcEs4_U/v-deo.html
do you know if the fender flare’s and front grille are able to be wrapped?
Ya the flares for sure. I'd highly recommend removing them and wrapping them off the truck tho. As far as the grill, ya you can it's just going to be hard due to all the angles and curves. Might be easier to remove it and wrap it too
Diet drinks are bad for you man
For the connected dongle that I have it has a switch does the spread sheet tell you when to switch?
The jeep isn't a high power v6 turbo
Cai and blow off valve change can help make it sound cooler
Do you know if there is a way to add the "display off" button to the home screen?
I have a bmw 5 series that has the same feature, never liked it. My opinion is, it’s probably not so good for the engine with the constant turning on/off in hopes of efficiency.
Dude you mpg should be better you only have 1k on the odometer. Try it at 7k
Will this work , f150 18 xlt
240p. Nice.

Great job. Trippy feeling working on a new rig. Thanks for being brave enough to do it. From CarandDriver.com... “EPA regulations incentivize the use of [stop/start] technology because it has on-road fuel economy and greenhouse-gas benefits not fully captured on EPA’s fuel-economy tests,” a Ford spokesman said in an email. “In order to qualify for the incentives, [it] must be the predominant operating mode for the vehicle, such that the driver cannot permanently disable it.” www.caranddriver.com/news/a19561461/automakers-increasingly-offer-ways-to-deactivate-stopstart-systems-temporarily/
dream truck
Funny how the sound changes from a V8 in Normal to a V6 in Sport. Definitely Reinforces the European Mindset that V8s are Obsolete. That's what you get when the Ford Family Only Owns 2 Percent of the Company
"Had a Denali I would have had babies with if I could..." might be the best line I've ever heard on a truck video!
Wack. Drive
I kind of like the keypad. I surf and have to hide my key somewhere while I was in the water. This way I could keep my key in the car and just dial in my code when I get out of the water
he also forgets that this is a truck, many owners will use it for work, have gloves on or be wet. so the rubber makes it user friendly.
What's your mpg like now with the truck?
It's been pretty steady at around 17mpg. I drive about 95% city.
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck wow that's actually fantastic! Stock tires? Any tune? Thanks the quick response
@@kylewoodall73 stock tires, no tune (the ford approved warranty'd tune was a myth). Only thing that MIGHT impact mpg is the 2 inch leveling kit and that shouldnt even be noticeable. i also had auto stop/start disabled for most of the last year or so.
Did you end up getting that noise fixed that you thought came from your driveline? Mine has been doing the same thing and Ford has yet to find and fix the issue. They were thinking that the noise was coming from the leaf springs and currently ordering that for me in hopes that is the fix. Honestly, I never noticed it until the 2.5' leveling blocks were installed. Still in the hunt to find that barking/squeaking noise.
Nope, still happens. It's the drive shaft. They applied the "fix" for it last year but it came back. Supposedly pulling the drive shaft, lubing it and then turning it 180 degrees or something and putting it back fixes it but I'm still hearing it once in a while.
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck Thanks! That blows though. Mine's an '18 too. I'll let the dealership keep replacing new parts until they figure it out though. Lol
@@dsc79supras absolutely. You notice yours shifting hard when you put it into drive? Mine feels like its slamming into the gear when i shift into drive. Need to take it in for that.
@@BigGuyBiggerTruck I haven't noticed anything like that. I just rolled over 30k miles and I drive it everyday. I'm seriously looking into purchasing the 5Star tuning tune for it and I know they deal with tuning the transmission but I doubt it would address the issue you're talking about. It's the only company that offers purchasing an aftermarket warranty to replace your factory powertrain warranty that'll get voided with a tune.
You still got the Raptor?
I do. I'm not sure for how much longer though. I'm curious about the Bronco and thinking about getting rid of the truck for a bit til the Bronco gets fully announced.
Have a 18 raptor and did the forscan but don't have ddm
What digit do you put if you want to enable? My truck has a BO stereo so I’m assuming it’s automatically disabled. The spreadsheet shows what to make for disabled only but doesn’t show what digits to put for enabled. Thanks Joey!
pretty sure the sound is there with BO.
Big Guy Bigger Truck thanks for the lighting fast reply. Do you know what digit to put for enable since the spreadsheet only shows what to put for disable?
Can you send a link for the 2,5 inch lift kit you bought? Thanks in advance
Got my 2018 Leadfoot 802A in August of this year. Loving it! Finding any excuse to be in it.
excellent. f150 is seriously the nicest truck to ride in ive found so far. ive driven every truck on the market and nothing really matches the cabin comfort imo.
Agreed. I had to go and drive each one like you but narrowed it down to two... the Silverado Z71 and the Raptor.
Awesome video, thank you.
